Why Europe comm?
This year we are finishing a two-years project, which gave us a chance to create a programme for vocational training and media education called MediaTrainer. This project is designed especially to the community media sector, which is facing different problems regarding finances and participation. Our project with its’s innovative tools (e-learning, training courses, web-TV platform) gives us a chance to support and strengthen community media in their work.
Europe comm events will let us reflect the current problems of the COMMunity media sector and COMMunicate them to the public. It means reflection, cooperation and integration towards common European framework of civil society institutions and community media centres in Europe.
What is the Europe comm conference about?
During the conference we will present the European vocational training programme ‘MediaTrainer’ which is directed to the staff of the civil society sector, community media centers, civic and labor unions. We will also present the practical handbook ‚Community media – citizen’s debate’, which features information and didactic materials concerning political education (how to research for, organize and conduct a citizen’s debate?) and community media (media education, challenges in the 21st century). This handbook is created for youth workers, multipliers, interested citizens who want to engage in the non-formal political, media and intercultural education.
Among the topics discussed at the conference will be the challenges facing community media in Europe as well as their impact on the developement of the civil society. Moreover, discussions will cover issues on media education and certification, and recognition of competencies gained in the media training courses in different European countries.
Each conference participant will be able to get aquainted with the innovative training program in the sphere of ICT and new media – MediaTrainer. This program allows upgrading the skills of the third sector workers in the fields of video journalism, online journalism, cross-media competences and allows to gain coaching skills. This program is specifically targeted at the rapidly growing community media sector in Europe.
What is the integration seminar and creative media workshops about?
The integration seminar and creative media workshops will start on the 23rd of June. The seminar is designed to the youth workers, multipliers and web-TV reporters from Europe. They will have a chance to get to know each other better and to work together in the European web-TV team. During the seminar and media workshops we will share our experience in initiating and conducting citizen’s debates in Europe and making media coverage of different European events. We will make one citizen’s debate and stream it live to the internet. We will also prepare to the media coverage of the Europe comm conference on the 24th of June.
